The Higgs boson, nicknamed the God particle, is a hypothetical massive elementary particle that is predicted to exist by the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. The Higgs boson is an integral part of the theoretical Higgs mechanism.

Physicists announce the latest results from the proton-colliding experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) including tentative evidence for the existence of the Higgs boson.

Scientists say they have found hints of the existence of the Higgs boson, a never-before-seen subatomic particle long thought to be a fundamental building block of the universe.

What is the Higgs boson?

The Standard Model of particle physics lays out the basics of how elementary particles and forces interact in the universe. But the theory crucially fails to explain how particles actually get their mass.

Particles, or bits of matter, range in size and can be larger or smaller than atoms. Electrons, protons and neutrons, for instance, are the subatomic particles that make up an atom.

Scientists believe that the Higgs boson is the particle that gives all matter its mass.

Experts know that elementary particles like quarks and electrons are the foundation upon which all matter in the universe is built. They believe the elusive Higgs boson gives the particles mass and fills in one of the key holes in modern physics.

How does the Higgs boson work?

The Higgs boson is part of a theory first proposed by physicist Peter Higgs and others in the 1960s to explain how particles obtain mass.

The theory proposes that a so-called Higgs energy field exists everywhere in the universe. As particles zoom around in this field, they interact with and attract Higgs bosons, which cluster around the particles in varying numbers.

Imagine the universe like a party. Relatively unknown guests at the party can pass quickly through the room unnoticed; more popular guests will attract groups of people (the Higgs bosons) who will then slow their movement through the room.

The speed of particles moving through the Higgs field works much in the same way. Certain particles will attract larger clusters of Higgs bosons -- and the more Higgs bosons a particle attracts, the greater its mass will be.

Why is finding the Higgs boson so important?

While finding the Higgs boson won't tell us everything we need to know about how the universe works, it will fill in a huge hole in the Standard Model that has existed for more than 50 years, according to experts.

"The Higgs boson is the last missing piece of our current understanding of the most fundamental nature of the universe," Martin Archer, a physicist at Imperial College in London, told CNN.

"Only now with the LHC [Large Hadron Collider] are we able to really tick that box off and say 'This is how the universe works, or at least we think it does'."

"It's not the be all and end all -- but in terms of what can we say practically about the world and how the world is, it actually tells us a lot."

Gordon Kane, director of the Michigan Center for Theoretical Physics, added that finding evidence of the Higgs boson would be a "very wonderful success of science and of people for four centuries."

Why is the Higgs boson called the "God particle?"

The popular nickname for the elusive particle was created for the title of a book by Nobel Prize winning physicist Leon Lederman -- reportedly against his will, as Lederman has said he wanted to call it the "Goddamn Particle" because "nobody could find the thing."

"'God particle' is a nickname I don't really like," says Archer. "It's nothing to do with religion -- the only (theoretical) similarity is you're seeing something that's a field that's everywhere, in all spaces."

How are scientists searching for the Higgs boson?

For the past year scientists have searched for the Higgs boson by smashing protons together at high energy in the $10 billion Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.

Inside the LHC, which is located 328 feet underground in a 17-mile tunnel and is the most powerful particle accelerator ever built, high speed proton collisions generate a range of even smaller particles that scientists sift through in search of a signal in the data suggesting the existence of the Higgs boson.

"You're just hoping that somewhere in these collisions that you see something ... some sort of a statistical bump," says Archer.

If Higgs bosons exist, they are elusive, popping up and then disappearing again quickly. It means, says Archer, that scientists at the LHC will only be able to observe their decaying remnants.

It has taken years for scientists to narrow down the range of mass in which they believed the Higgs boson could exist -- but during the past year a statistical bump suggests they're on the right track.

"Now they're starting to get a bump, the scientists should be able to get that result more and more," says Archer.

What if scientists don't find the Higgs boson?

The general consensus among physics academics is that the Higgs field and boson exists, according to Archer.

"It just makes sense within the framework that we've got everything set up in, given that everything else that we can describe and we can see seems to be described in this simple way," says Archer.

Nearly every scientist believes that the Large Hadron Collider will either prove or disprove the existence of the Higgs boson once and for all -- so if the LHC doesn't find it, it doesn't exist, experts say.

Martin Archer believes a failure to find the Higgs boson would be even more exciting than discovering the elusive particle.

"If we don't see it, it actually means that the universe at the most fundamental level is more complicated than we thought," says Archer, "and therefore maybe the way we've been attacking physics isn't right."

THE DEAD SEA

The Dead sea also called Salt Sea, is a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west. Its surface and shores are 423 metres (1,388 ft) below sea level. The Dead Sea is 377 m (1,237 ft) deep, the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. With 33.7% salinity, it is also one of the world's saltiest bodies of water, though Lake Assa. It is 8.6 times saltier than the ocean. This salinity makes for a harsh environment in which animals cannot flourish, hence its name. The Dead Sea is 67 kilometres (42 mi) long and 18 kilometres (11 mi) wide at its widest point. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley, and its main tributary is the Jordan River.

The Dead Sea has attracted visitors from around the Mediterranean basin for thousands of years. Biblically, it was a place of refuge for King David. It was one of the world's first health resorts (for Herod the Great), and it has been the supplier of a wide variety of products, from balms for Egyptian mummification to potash for fertilizers. People also use the salt and the minerals from the Dead Sea to create cosmetics and herbal sachets.

The Dead Sea died once. During a warm period long ago it dried up completely, new evidence reveals. That’s bad news for the lake today. It’s been shrinking for decades and may be about to die again.

“The lake may actually go dry soon,” Emi Ito of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis said December 5 at a meeting of the American Geophysical Union.

Ito and colleagues examined lake bed cores dug up by the Dead Sea Deep Drilling Project. Sediments in these cores, deposited over 200,000 years, record the history of the lake.

In theory, the supersalty Dead Sea should be protected against completely drying up; salt increases the amount of heat required to evaporate water. Computer simulations have suggested that a shrinking Dead Sea should eventually stabilize as it gets saltier and saltier.

But smooth pebbles buried 253 meters beneath the present-day lake bed suggest that the Dead Sea was once water-free. What’s more, these stones sit atop about 45 meters of salt.

“That's how much salt we would expect if we were to take the entire Dead Sea today and evaporate it,” said Steven Goldstein of Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, N.Y.

The researchers haven’t used radiocarbon dating to figure out the age of the sediments, but the team estimates that the lake vanished 120,000 years ago. A warmer climate at that time that could have dried up the Dead Sea’s water sources.

Today the Dead Sea is threatened again, this time by the diversion of water from the Jordan River for irrigation and other uses. Now fed only by mountain runoff and underwater springs, the Dead Sea dropped 10 meters between 1997 and 2008.

If the Dead Sea disappears again, though, its history does offer some hope. The lake has already come back to life once. Perhaps this biblical body of water could be resurrected again.

SENSITIVE TEETH

Tooth sensitivity is tooth discomfort, when eating hot, cold, sweet, or sour foods and drinks, or even by breathing cold air, you can feel the pain can be sharp, sudden, and shoot deep into the nerve endings of your teeth.

Causes Sensitive Teeth
Sensitive teeth occur when the underlying layer of your teeth the dentin becomes exposed as a result of receding gum tissue (the protective blanket that covers the tooth roots). The roots, which are not covered by hard enamel, contain thousands of tiny tubules leading to the tooth's nerve center (the pulp). These dentinal tubules (or channels) allow the stimuli for example, the hot, cold, or sweet food to reach the nerve in your tooth, which results in the pain you feel.

There are many factors that may lead to sensitive teeth, including.
  • Brushing too hard. Over time, brushing too hard or using a hard-bristled toothbrush can wear down enamel and cause the dentin to be exposed. It can also cause recession of the gums (the gum tissue pulls away from the teeth).
  • Tooth decay near the gum line.
  • Recession of the gums. As gums move away from a tooth due to conditions such as periodontal disease, the root surface becomes exposed.
  • Gum disease (gingivitis) . Inflamed and sore gum tissue may cause sensitivity due to the loss of supporting ligaments, which exposes the root surface that leads directly to the nerve of the tooth.
  • Cracked teeth. Chipped or broken teeth may fill with bacteria from plaque and enter the pulp causing Inflammation.
  • Teeth grinding . Grinding or clenching your teeth may wear down the enamel and expose underlying dentin.
  • Tooth whitening products or toothpaste with baking soda and peroxide. These products are major contributors to sensitive teeth.
  • Your age. Tooth sensitivity is highest between the ages of 25 and 30.
  • Plaque build-up. The presence of plaque on the root surfaces can cause sensitivity.
  • Mouthwash use. Long-term use of some mouthwashes. Some over-the-counter mouthwashes contain acids that can worsen tooth sensitivity if you have exposed dentin (the middle layer of the tooth). The acids further damage the dentin layer of the tooth. If you have dentin sensitivity, ask your dentist about the use of a neutral fluoride solution.
  • Acidic foods. Regular consumption of foods with a high acid content, such as citrus fruits, tomatoes, pickles, and tea, can cause enamel erosion.
  • Recent routine dental procedures. Sensitivity can occur following teeth cleaning, root planing, crown placement, and tooth restoration. Sensitivity caused by dental procedures is temporary, usually disappearing in four to six weeks.
Reduce Tooth Sensitivity
Some steps you can take to prevent tooth sensitivity include:
  • Maintain good oral hygiene. Continue to follow proper brushing and flossing techniques to thoroughly clean all parts of your teeth and mouth.
  • Use a soft bristled toothbrush. This will result in less toothbrush abrasion to the tooth surface and less irritation to your gums. Brush gently and carefully around the gum line so you do not remove more gum tissue.
  • Use desensitizing toothpaste. There are several brands of toothpaste available for sensitive teeth. With regular use you should notice a decrease in sensitivity. You may need to try several different brands to find the product that works best for you. Another tip. spread a thin layer of the toothpaste on the exposed tooth roots with your finger or a Q-tip before you go to bed. Do not use a tartar control toothpaste; rather, use a fluoridated toothpaste.
  • Watch what you eat. Frequent consumption of highly acid foods can gradually dissolve tooth enamel and lead to dentin exposure. They may also aggravate the sensitivity and start the pain reaction.
  • Use fluoridated dental products. Daily use of a fluoridated mouth rinse can decrease sensitivity. Ask your dentist about available products for home use.
  • Avoid teeth grinding. If you grind or clench your teeth, use a mouth guard at night.

BODHIDHARMA


Bodhidharma was born in Kanchipuram,Tamil Nadu.His original name was Bodhitara.He was born as a prince in pallava dynasty around 440 AD. Some accounts shows that he would've been came from Persia , but there was no manuscript evidence to prove it.
He was the third child of King Pallava. Being a follower of Buddhism , be was religioussly became a buddisht monk during the 5th/6th century and also credited for zen arts.

He arrived to china during the Liu Song Dynasty founded by King Liu Yu.

In one legend, Bodhidharma refused to resume teaching until his would-be student, Dazu Huike, who had kept vigil for weeks in the deep snow outside of the monastery, cut off his own left arm to demonstrate sincerity. Shaolin monks and disciples follow a unique practice among Buddhists in that they greet each other using only their right hand. This greeting is a tradition which dates back to Da Mo and his disciple, Hui Ke.
Now The Story Begins...........................

In 495 AD, the Indian monk Ba Tuo, or Buddhabhadra, came to China teaching a form of Buddhism known as Xiao Sheng Buddhism. He was given land at the foot of Shaoshi mountain by Emperor Shao Wen and founded the Shaolin Temple on this land.

Around the time that Ba Tuo was founding the Shaolin Temple there was an Indian prince named Bodhidharma. Bodhidharma was very intelligent and was the favorite son of the king of a region that is now part of southern India. Bodhidharma had two older brothers who feared that their father, the king, would pass them over and bequeath the kingship to Bodhidharma. In their jealousy, the two older brothers often disparaged Bodhidharma while talking with their father, hoping to turn him against their younger brother. The older brothers also attempted to assassinate Bodhidharma but Bodhidharma had very good karma and so the attempts were not successful. Despite being the favorite son of the king, Bodhidharma realized that he was not interested in a life of politics. He chose instead to study with the famous Buddhist master Prajnatara and become a Buddhist monk.

Bodhidharma trained with his master for many years. One day he asked his master, "Master, when you pass away, where should I go? What should I do?" His master replied that he should go to Zhen Dan, which was the name for China at that time. Years later, Bodhidharma's master passed away and Bodhidharma prepared to leave for China.

During the many years that Bodhidharma had studied as a monk, one of his older brothers had become king of India and that older brother's son had become king after him. The king of India was very fond of his uncle and wanted to make amends for the actions which Bodhidharma's older brothers had taken against him. He asked Bodhidharma to stay near the capital, where he could protect and care for him, but Bodhidharma knew that he must go to China as his master had said.

Seeing that Bodhidharma would not remain, the king of India ordered that carrier pigeons be sent to China with messages asking the people of China to take care of Bodhidharma. These messages made Bodhidharma famous among many Chinese who wondered what was so special about this particular Buddhist monk that the king of India would make such a request.

In 527 AD, 32 years after Ba Tuo's founding of the Shaolin temple, Bodhidharma crossed through Guangdong province into China. In China, he was known as Da Mo. Da Mo arrived in China practicing Da Sheng (Mahayana) Buddhism. When Da Mo arrived, he was greeted by a large crowd of people who had heard of the famous Buddhist master and wished to hear him speak. Rather than speak, Da Mo sat down and began meditating. He meditated for many hours. Upon completing his meditation, Da Mo rose and walked away, saying nothing.

His actions had a profound effect upon his audience. Some people laughed, some cried, some were angry and some nodded their heads in understanding. Regardless of the emotion, everyone in the crowd had a reaction.

This incident made Da Mo even more famous, so famous that Emperor Wu heard of him. Emperor Wu, who ruled over the southern kingdom of China, invited Da Mo to come to his palace. When Da Mo arrived, Emperor Wu talked with Da Mo about Buddhism. The emperor had erected many statues and temples devoted to Buddhism. He had given much wealth to Buddhist temples. In talking of his accomplishments, Emperor Wu asked Da Mo if his actions were good. Da Mo replied that they were not. This response surprised Emperor Wu, but they continued talking and eventually Emperor Wu asked Da Mo if there was Buddha in this world. Da Mo replied that there was not.

Da Mo's replies were a reflection of Emperor Wu. By asking if his actions were good, Emperor Wu was searching for compliments and affirmation from Da Mo. Da Mo denied that Emperor Wu's actions were good because it is the duty of the emperor to care for his people. Rather than seeking compliments, Emperor Wu should have been content to help his people through Buddha. Similarly, if one asks if there is Buddha in the world, then one has already answered the question: Buddha is a matter of faith, you either believe in your heart or you do not. In questioning the existence of Buddha, Emperor Wu had demonstrated a lack of faith.

Da Mo's answers enraged Emperor Wu and he ordered Da Mo to leave his palace and never return. Da Mo simply smiled, turned and left.

Da Mo continued his journey, heading north, when he reached the city of Nanjing. In the city of Nanjing, there was a famous place called the Flower Rain Pavillion where many people gathered to speak and relax. There was a large crowd of people gathered in the Flower Rain Pavillion around a Buddhist monk, who was lecturing. This Buddhist monk was named Shen Guang.

Shen Guang had at one time been a famous general. He had killed many people in battle but one day realized that the people he had been killing had family and friends and that one day someone might come and kill him. This changed him and he decided to train as a Buddhist monk. Eventually, Shen Guang became a great speaker on Buddhism. As Da Mo neared the crowd, he listened to Shen Guang's speech. Sometimes Shen Guang would speak and Da Mo would nod his head, as if in agreement. Sometimes Shen Guang would speak and Da Mo would shake his head, as if in disagreement. As this continued, Shen Guang became very angry at the strange foreign monk who dared to disagree with him in front of this crowd. In anger, Shen Guang took the Buddhist beads from around his neck and flicked them at Da Mo. The beads struck Da Mo in his face, knocking out two of his front teeth. Da Mo immediately began bleeding. Shen Guang expected a confrontation; instead, Da Mo smiled, turned and walked away.

This reaction astounded Shen Guang, who began following after Da Mo.

Da Mo continued north until he reached the Yangzi river. Seated by the river there was an old woman with a large bundle of reeds next to her. Da Mo walked up to the old woman and asked her if he might have a reed. She replied that he might. Da Mo took a single reed, placed it upon the surface of the Yangzi river and stepped onto the reed. He was carried across the Yangzi river by the force of his chi. Seeing this, Shen Guang ran up to where the old woman sat and grabbed a handful of reeds without asking. He threw the reeds onto the Yangzi river and stepped onto them. The reeds sank beneath him and Shen Guang began drowning. The old woman saw his plight and took pity on Shen Guang, pulling him from the river. As Shen Guang lay on the ground coughing up river water, the old woman admonished him. She said that by not asking for her reeds before taking them, he had shown her disrespect and that by disrespecting her, Shen Guang had disrespected himself. The old woman also told Shen Guang that he had been searching for a master and that Da Mo, the man he was following, was that master. As she said this, the reeds which had sunk beneath Shen Guang rose again to the surface of the river and Shen Guang found himself on the reeds being carried across the Yangzi river. He reached the other side and continued following after Da Mo.

There are many people who believe that the old woman by the river was a Boddhisatva who was helping Shen Guang to end the cycle of his samsara.

At this point, Da Mo was nearing the location of the Shaolin Temple. The Shaolin monks had heard of his approach and were gathered to meet him. When Da Mo arrived, the Shaolin monks greeted him and invited him to come stay at the temple. Da Mo did not reply but he went to a cave on a mountain behind the Shaolin Temple, sat down, and began meditating. In front of the Shaolin Temple, there are five mountains: Bell Mountain, Drum Mountain, Sword Mountain, Stamp Mountain and Flag Mountain. These mountains are named after the objects which their shape resembles. Behind the Shaolin Temple there are five "Breast Mountains" which are shaped like breasts. The cave in which Da Mo chose to meditate was on one of the Breast Mountains.

Da Mo sat facing a wall in the cave and meditated for nine years. During these nine years, Shen Guang stayed outside Da Mo's cave and acted as a bodyguard for Da Mo, ensuring that no harm came to Da Mo. Periodically Shen Guang would ask Da Mo to teach him, but Da Mo never responded to Shen Guang's requests. During these nine years the Shaolin monks would also periodically invite Da Mo to come down to the Temple, where he would be much more comfortable, but Da Mo never responded. After some time, Da Mo's concentration became so intense that his image was engraved into the stone of the wall before him.

Towards the end of the nine years, the Shaolin monks decided that they must do something more for Da Mo and so they made a special room for him. They called this room the Da Mo Ting. When this room was completed at the end of the nine years, the Shaolin monks invited Da Mo to come stay in the room. Da Mo did not respond but he stood up, walked down to the room, sat down, and immediately began meditating. Shen Guang followed Da Mo to the Shaolin temple and stood guard outside Da Mo's room. Da Mo meditated in his room for another four years. Shen Guang would occasionally ask Da Mo to teach him, but Da Mo never responded.

At the end of the four-year period Shen Guang had been following Da Mo for thirteen years, but Da Mo had never said anything to Shen Guang. It was winter when the four-year period was ending and Shen Guang was standing in the snow outside the window to Da Mo's room. He was cold and became very angry. He picked up a large block of snow and ice and hurled it into Da Mo's room. The snow and ice made a loud noise as it broke inside Da Mo's room. This noise awoke Da Mo from his meditation and he looked at Shen Guang. In anger and frustration Shen Guang demanded to know when Da Mo would teach him.

Da Mo responded that he would teach Shen Guang when red snow fell from the sky.

 Hearing this, something inside Shen Guang's heart changed and he took the sword he carried from his belt and cut off his left arm. He held the severed arm above his head and whirled it around. The blood from the arm froze in the cold air and fell like red snow. Seeing this, Da Mo agreed to teach Shen Guang.

Da Mo took a monk's spade and went with Shen Guang to the Drum Mountain in front of Shaolin Temple. The Drum Mountain is so called because it is very flat on top. Da Mo's unspoken message to Shen Guang was that Shen Guang should flatten his heart, just like the surface of the Drum Mountain. On this Drum Mountain Da Mo dug a well. The water of this well was bitter. Da Mo then left Shen Guang on the Drum Mountain. For an entire year, Shen Guang used the bitter water of the well to take care of all of his needs. He used it to cook, to clean, to bathe, to do everything. At the end of the first year, Shen Guang went down to Da Mo and again asked Da Mo to teach him. Da Mo returned with Shen Guang to the Drum Mountain and dug a second well. The water of this well was spicy. For an entire year, Shen Guang used the spicy water for all of his needs. At the end of the second year, Shen Guang went back down to Da Mo and asked again to be taught. Da Mo dug a third well on the Drum Mountain. The water of this third well was sour. For the third year, Shen Guang used the sour water for all of his needs. At the end of the third year, Shen Guang returned to Da Mo and agains asked to be taught. Da Mo returned to the Drum Mountain and dug a fourth and final well. The water of this well was sweet. At this point, Shen Guang realized that the four wells represented his life. Like the wells, his life would sometimes be bitter, sometimes sour, sometimes spicy and sometimes sweet. Each of these phases in his life was equally beautiful and necessary, just as each of the four seasons of the year is beautiful and necessary in its own way. Without really saying many words to Shen Guang, Da Mo had taught Shen Guang the most important of lessons in a mind-to-mind, heart-to-heart fashion. This mind-to- mind, heart-to-heart communication is called "action language" and is the foundation of the Chan Buddhism which Da Mo began at the Shaolin Temple.

After his realization, Shen Guang was given the name Hui Ke and he became abbot of the Shaolin temple after Da Mo.

To pay respect for the sacrifice which Hui Ke made, disciples and monks of the Shaolin Temple greet each other using only their right hand.

Three years after Bodhidharma's death, Ambassador Song Yun of northern Wei is said to have seen him walking while holding a shoe at the Pamir Heights. Song Yun asked Bodhidharma where he was going, to which Bodhidharma replied "I am going home". When asked why he was holding his shoe, Bodhidharma answered "You will know when you reach Shaolin monastery. Don't mention that you saw me or you will meet with disaster". After arriving at the palace, Song Yun told the emperor that he met Bodhidharma on the way. The emperor said Bodhidharma was already dead and buried, and had Song Yun arrested for lying. At the Shaolin Temple, the monks informed them that Bodhidharma was dead and had been buried in a hill behind the temple. The grave was exhumed and was found to contain a single shoe. The monks then said "Master has gone back home" and prostrated three times.

HOME REMEDY FOR DANDRUFF

NOW, TATKAL RAILWAY BOOKINGS ONLY 24 HRS IN ADVANCE


NEW DELHI: Railways on Friday decided to reduce the advance reservation period for Tatkal tickets from 48 hours to 24 hours in a move to prevent misuse of the scheme introduced to facilitate emergency travel.

Complaints of touts misusing the scheme were increasing day by day and this left Rail Bhawan mandarins worried. While there will be no refund on confirmed Tatkal tickets except in case of cancellation of trains and late running trains, the restriction for agents to book Tatkal ticket has been extended from one hour to two hours (8 am to 10 am).

Now, one has to produce identity proof to buy Tatkal tickets and there will be only four passengers per PNR for such tickets.

Tatkal reservation period was reduced from 48 hours to 24 hours to prevent misuse by unscrupulous elements who resort to speculative booking. According to the changed system, no duplicate Tatkal ticket shall be issued and it would be done only in exceptional cases on payment of full fare including Tatkal charges.

"There were many complaints regarding misuse of Tatkal tickets. The changes that will be effective within a week has been made to prevent its misuse," Vinay Mittal, chairman, Railway Board, said.

INVISIBLE INK

Introduction
Have you ever wondered how spies and secret agents could leave secret messages? Invisible ink might sound high tech, but you can create—and read!—a top secret message with one simple kitchen ingredient: lemons. George Washington​'s army used this same concept to send secret messages during the American Revolutionary War​. What message will you write?

Background
Lemon juice—and the juice of most fruits, for that matter—contains carbon compounds. These compounds are pretty much colorless at room temperature. But heat can break down these compounds, releasing the carbon. If the carbon comes in contact with the air, a process called oxidation occurs, and the substance turns light or dark brown.

Materials
  • One half of a lemon (use caution when cutting)
  • One half teaspoon of water
  • Small bowl
  • Spoon
  • White paper
  • Q-tips
  • A lamp with a lightbulb that puts off a lot of heat, such as a 100-watt incandescent bulb or another heat source, such as a radiator
  • Optional: Pencil (to write a decoy message on your paper)

Preparation
  • Squeeze the juice of your lemon half into the bowl.
  • Add the water and mix with a spoon.
  • Think of a secret message you would like to write—and to whom you're going to deliver it!
  • Extra: If you want to be super secret, you can write a boring old message or draw a picture on the paper with a pencil before you write your secret message to disguise it even further.

Procedure
  • Soak the Q-tip in the lemon juice-and-water solution.
  • Use the damp Q-tip to write your top-secret message on the piece of paper.
  • Wait a few minutes for the paper to dry. While you're waiting, you can switch on your lamp to give the lightbulb time to heat up (being careful not to touch the hot bulb itself).
  • When the paper is dry, hold it up to the hot lamp for a few minutes (but don't let the paper get so hot that it burns). What happened to your invisible ink? How long did it take for the change to occur?
  • Extra: Try this activity with other acidic liquids, such as apple juice or vinegar. Which ones work best?

Observations and results
What happened to your invisible message? What other liquids work well to make invisible ink that develops under heat?

When you painted the lemon juice solution onto the paper, the carbon-based compounds were absorbed into the paper's fibers. When you heated the paper, the heat caused some of the chemical bonds to break down, freeing the carbon. Once the carbon came into contact with the air, it went through a process called oxidation, one effect of which is to turn a darker color. Oxidation doesn't always need heat to occur. Some fruits themselves can turn brown from oxidation. Think of an apple or pear slice that is left out on the counter for too long.

Cleanup
  • Use caution with the lamp, as the lightbulb can stay hot even after it is turned off.
  • Have extra lemon solution? Add more water and a little sugar, and you can turn your invisible ink into lemonade! And it's no secret that lemonade tastes good.

VIDEO GAMES IMPROVES CHILDREN'S CREATIVITY


Hi friends i like share one interesting informative news  that is..... Both boys and girls who play video games tend to be more creative, regardless of whether the games are violent or nonviolent, according to new research by Michigan State University scholars.

A study of nearly 500 12-year-olds found that the more kids played video games, the more creative they were in tasks such as drawing pictures and writing stories. In contrast, use of cell phones, the Internet and computers (other than for video games) was unrelated to creativity, the study found.

Linda Jackson, professor of psychology and lead researcher on the project, said the study appears to be the first evidence-based demonstration of a relationship between technology use and creativity. About 72 percent of U.S. households play video or computer games, according to the Entertainment Software Association.

The MSU findings should motivate game designers to identify the aspects of video game activity that are responsible for the creative effects, Jackson said.

"Once they do that, video games can be designed to optimize the development of creativity while retaining their entertainment values such that a new generation of video games will blur the distinction between education and entertainment," Jackson said.


The researchers surveyed 491 middle-school students as part of MSU's Children and Technology Project, which is funded by the National Science Foundation. The survey assessed how often the students used different forms of technology and gauged their creativity with the widely used Torrance Test of Creativity-Figural.

The Torrance test involved tasks such as drawing an "interesting and exciting" picture from a curved shape, giving the picture a title and then writing a story about it.

In addition, the study found that boys played video games more than girls, and that boys favored games of violence and sports while girls favored games involving interaction with others (human or nonhuman).

Yet, regardless of gender, race or type of game played by the students, the study found a relation between video game playing and greater creativity.

ALCOHOL UPS BREAST CANCER RISK IN FEMALES: STUDY


New Delhi: A new study says drinking alcohol can increase the risk of breast cancer. That is a good enough reason why women should not knock back too many drinks, be it beer, wine or other alcoholic drinks.

While a glass of wine may help females unwind, it may also put them at a higher risk for breast cancer.

A new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association finds three to six alcoholic drinks a week showed an increased risk.

The study shows the alcohol added to whatever risk a woman already had for breast cancer.

Researchers say the trend is linked to a woman's alcohol consumption throughout her lifetime.

They said there was no difference if a woman was drinking a single serving of beer, wine or liquor.

3 PAKISTAN PLAYERS AND AGENT GET PRISON FOR SPOT -FIXING


It took exactly 15 months for the London Metropolitan Police to complete investigation and get conviction of Pakistani cricketers Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer for spot-fixing in the Lord's Test last year. Delhi Police are still struggling to piece together a charge sheet 11 years after blowing the lid off the match-fixing.

Three former Pakistan international cricketers were escorted from the dock by prison officers on Thursday after being handed combined jail sentences totalling four years for their part in the spot-fixing plot in their Test match against England at Lord's last year.

Salman Butt, the Pakistan captain during that Test and a man described by Mr Justice Cooke as "the orchestrator of this activity", was jailed for 30 months.

Mohammad Asif, who bowled one of three prearranged no-balls at the centre of the conspiracy, was given a year in prison. Mohammad Amir, who at the time of his crime was only 18 years old, was given a six-month sentence. They must serve half of their sentences before release on licence, and must do so in English prisons.

It is a heavy price to pay for three men who, as the judge recognised, had until last year been "heroes" for their nation and icons in their sport.

PHILIPPINES CO TO BUY MURUGAPPA e-PUBLISHING unit

CHENNAI: Diversified southern conglomerate Murugappa Group is selling its business process outsourcing business, Laserwords, focused on publishing industry. Philippines-based SPi Global is set to acquire Laserwords in a deal which could be announced as early as next week, said sources briefed on the matter.

Murugappa had mandated Enam to explore strategic options for Laserwords, which it acquired in 2006. "We are in final stages of a possible transaction. It could be a strategic stake sale or a full exit," senior officials of the group said. While the reason for the proposed exit by the Murugappas' is not known, sources said that the business did not grow at the pace at which the group expected it grow. The financial contours of the proposed transaction is also not known.

"We are not going to comment anything at the moment. It is speculation," a spokesperson for Murugappa said when contacted. It offered end-to-end solutions for print and media production services to leading publishers of school (K-12), higher education, academic, as well as professional and trade publications. Laserwords' clients includes Amazon, Scholastic, Pearson among others.

The company has almost all the top 10 publishers in the world. It has centres in California and Chennai.

RAINFOREST

These amazing places cover only 6 % of the Earth's surface but yet they contain MORE THAN 1/2 of the world's plant and animal species!

RAINFOREST name came because of the high amount of rainfall it gets per year. Rainforest is famous for tall and dense jungle.Rainforests are found in Africa, Asia, Australia, and Central and South America. The largest rainforest in the world is the Amazon rainforest in South America.

Tropical rainforests have been called the "jewels of the Earth" and the "world's largest pharmacy". Rainforests are also responsible for 28% of the world's oxygen turnover, sometimes misnamed oxygen production. The undergrowth in a rainforest is restricted in many areas by the poor penetration of sunlight to ground level. There are two types of rainforest, tropical rainforest and temperate rainforest.

Tropical rainforest are associated with the location of the monsoon trough,found in the equatorial zone (between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn). Tropical rainforest is present in Southeast Asia (from Myanmar (Burma) to Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and northeastern Australia), Sri Lanka, sub-Saharan Africa from Cameroon to the Congo (Congo Rainforest), South America (e.g. the Amazon Rainforest), Central America (e.g. Bosawás, southern Yucatán Peninsula-El Peten-Belize-Calakmul), and on many of the Pacific Islands (such as Hawaiʻi). Tropical rainforests have been called the "Earth's lungs".
Temperate rainforest are rainforests in temperate regions. They occur in North America (in the Pacific Northwest, the British Columbia Coast and in the inland rainforest of the Rocky Mountain Trench east of Prince George), in Europe (parts of the British Isles such as the coastal areas of Ireland and Scotland, southern Norway, parts of the western Balkans along the Adriatic coast, as well as in the North West of Spain and coastal areas of the eastern Black Sea, including Georgia and coastal Turkey), in East Asia (in southern China, Taiwan, much of Japan and Korea, and on Sakhalin Island and the adjacent Russian Far East coast), in South America (southern Chile) and also in Australia and New Zealand.

A tropical rainforest is typically divided into four main layers, they are
Emergent layer, Canopy layer, Understorey layer, Forest floor.

The emergent layer contains a small number of very large trees called emergents, towering as much as 200 feet above the forest floor, a few species will grow to 70–80 m tall.They need to be able to withstand the hot temperatures and strong winds that occur above the canopy in some areas. Eagles, butterflies, bats and certain monkeys inhabit this layer.

The canopy layer contains the majority of the largest trees.This is the primary layer of the forest and forms a roof over the two remaining layers. Most canopy trees have smooth, oval leaves that come to a point. It's a maze of leaves and branches.  Many animals live in this area since food is abundant.

The understorey layer lies between the canopy and the forest floor. The understorey (or understory) is home to a number of birds, snakes and lizards, as well as predators such as jaguars, boa constrictors and leopards. The leaves are much larger at this level. Insect life is also abundant. Many seedlings that will grow to the canopy level are present in the understorey. Only about 5% of the sunlight shining on the rainforest canopy reaches the understorey.

The forest floor, the bottom-most layer, receives only 2% of the sunlight. Only plants adapted to low light can grow in this region. Away from riverbanks, swamps and clearings, where dense undergrowth is found, the forest floor is relatively clear of vegetation because of the low sunlight penetration. It also contains decaying plant and animal matter, which disappears quickly, because the warm, humid conditions promote rapid decay. Many forms of fungi growing here help decay the animal and plant waste.

VENICE

Venice is one of the most lovely places in the world. Venice city is situated on the bank of canal in Italy. Venice is famous all over the world for the canals.The most famous is the area comprising the 118 islands in the main districts that are called "Sestieri" and they are: Cannaregio, Castello, Dorsoduro, San Polo, Santa Croce and San Marco, where the main monuments and sights are located. They used to transportation by canals. Gondola is the classical venetian boat which was used as a major source of transport in the olden days. Venice being a place on water. The bridges in the city takes an important place in every visitor's list, such as the Bridge of sighs.The place gets it name from the sighs of the prisoner who were taken to the prison cell from the doge's palace. This bridge connects the doge's palace to the prison cell.


Foundations

The buildings of Venice are constructed on closely spaced wooden piles. Most of these piles are still intact after centuries of submersion. The foundations rest on the piles, and buildings of brick or stone sit above these footings. The piles penetrate a softer layer of sand and mud until they reach a much harder layer of compressed clay.

Submerged by water, in oxygen-poor conditions, wood does not decay as rapidly as on the surface. It is petrified as a result of the constant flow of mineral-rich water around and through it, so that it becomes a stone-like structure.[citation needed]



History of Venetian Masks

In 1162 Doge Vitale Michieli triumphed over Ulrich II of Treven and an annual celebration to commemorate the occasion was commenced. The first documented usage of Venetian masks in conjunction with the annual celebration was in 1268.

As Venice grew in popularity as a tourist destination through the middle ages the city became known as a pleasure palace. During this period the popularity of masks grew as prominent social figures dawned disguises to conceal their identities as they performed unscrupulous and immoral acts in pursuit of carnal pleasures.

During the 16th through 18th century Venetian Masks became the signature of the Commedia Dell'arte. The Commedia Dell'arte were popular plays in the form of improvisational theater that were performed by theater companies that traveled the Italian peninsula producing comedies involving the topics of adultery, jealousy, and love.

Several of Venice's  popular mask forms such as the Capitano, the Paglianccio(clown), the Pulcinella (the mascot of Naples), and Zanni (the threadbare old servant of Venice) were shaped in character in the traveling road show known as the Commedia dell'arte.

On October 17, 1797 Venice became part of the Kingdom of the Lombardy-Venetia (Austria). When the Austrians took control of the city masked celebrations were outlawed.  :-(  Venetian masks faded into obscurity.

The tradition of mask making was not rekindled until 1979 when some undergraduate art students revived the tradition in an effort to profit from the tourism trade in the city. And a successful endeavor it turned out to be. In less than 30 years the artisan profession has flourished and now masks and Venice are synonymous.

The history of the Venetian Mask is nearly as colorful as the masks themselves.

HYUNDAI EON STARTING AT RS. 2.69 LAKH


Hi Friends Hyundai Launched EON that has been developed specifically for the Indian market, at an introductory price of between Rs 2.69 lakh and Rs 3.71 lakh.The Eon, which will compete with Maruti Suzuki India's best selling model Alto, is powered by a 814 Cc petrol engine.

In Hyundai EON exterior and the dimensions are concerned, the Hyundai EON is taller and wider than Maruti Alto. With its latest technology and supreme styling EON is expected to grab the market

Hyundai claims that EON will set a new benchmark in the Indian market with regard to styling, performance, safety and convenience. The car has been conceived, designed and developed over four years, keeping the Indian consumer's preferences in mind.

The Hyundai Eon is a small car that has been specially designed as a low cost car. According to reports the Hyundai Eon will be costing just over Rs.2 lakhs. The price will be distinctly higher than the Tata Nano, a car that has lost its image primarily for its low price.

To save costs and to keep the price competitive, some parts from the Santro and i10 have been carried over into the Eon. Hyundai has also decided to offer a variant with a driver's airbag and a front passenger airbag will also be available, though that might be offered later. Its size and the new 800cc engine that it will sport position it bang-on with the competition in the ‘A' and entry ‘B' segment cars. The new engine is a 814cc, 3-cylinder, SOHC unit that has been tuned to provide a combination of peppy performance and frugal habits.

Generating a peak power of 56PS at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 7.65 KgM at 4,000 rpm, the Eon's engine manages to beat the current benchmark – Alto – convincingly. The Alto's 800cc engine manages 47 PS of peak power at 6,200 rpm and a peak torque of 6.3 KgM at 3,000 rpm. For a 3-cylinder unit, the Eon's engine manages to be fairly refined under steady acceleration and gets a bit gruffy and audible only at high revs. I felt minor levels of vibration at the steering wheel and door panels. It is a fairly rev-happy engine and there are a number of tech bits in it to keep weight low and improve performance. Components like a plastic intake manifold, roller rockers arms, low friction coated piston and rings, and a plastic head cover have been chosen for improving the engine's efficiency.

Compared to the Alto's claimed 19.73 kmpl, Hyundai engineers claim that the Eon's engine will be capable of delivering a fuel efficiency of 21.1 kmpl.

The engine is paired to the same gearbox from the Santro Xing. Gear shifts are quick, but the shift quality was a bit rubbery. Ratios seemed to have been set largely for urban driving conditions, but I would have liked a bit more of low-end torque in each gear slot.

STEVE JOBS SPEECH AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY


This is often labelled as one of the most inspirational speeches given by corporate CEOs. This speech was delivered by Steve Jobs at Stanford University in 2005. May his soul rest in peace.

I am honoured to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories

The first story is about connecting the dots.

I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?

It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife. Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: "We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?"  They said: "Of course." My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents

And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.

It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms, I returned coke bottles for the 5¢ deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example:

Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found it fascinating.

None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, it's likely that no personal computer would have them. If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.

Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

My second story is about love and loss.

I was lucky - I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees. We had just released our finest creation - the Macintosh - a year earlier, and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating.

I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down - that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me - I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the world’s first computer animated feature film, Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, I returned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together.

I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

My third story is about death.

When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything - all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumour on my pancreas. I didn't even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor's code for prepare to die. It means to try to tell your kids everything you thought you'd have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes.

I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumour. I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I'm fine now.

This was the closest I've been to facing death, and I hope it's the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept:

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960's, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.

Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

WAVES AND INFORMATION TRANSFER


There are waves all around us. There’s elec­tro­mag­netic waves, mechan­i­cal waves, and var­i­ous other types of waves. They trans­fer information/energy all over the planet. You don’t nec­es­sar­ily see them, but they’re there. There’s light waves, sound waves, radio waves, microwaves, etc. They trans­fer infor­ma­tion from one piece of mat­ter to the next. As the “Cir­cle of Life” goes through its motion, infor­ma­tion is trans­ferred in every pos­si­ble direc­tion. This infor­ma­tion (or energy) trans­fer is fueled at its core by the “Cre­ation and Destruc­tion Prin­ci­ple”. This infor­ma­tion (or energy) is the basis for com­pe­ti­tion.  It’s the basis of Evo­lu­tion. We get a lot of this energy/information from the light waves com­ing to Earth from the Sun.

Have you ever heard of the “But­tle­fly Effect”? This states that the small­est move­ment of a but­ter­fly can be felt across the world. This is often spo­ken about in regards to Chaos The­ory. What this really means is that the small­est move­ment made by any piece of mat­ter will trans­fer pos­i­tive or neg­a­tive energy to another piece of mat­ter. This has a cas­cad­ing affect as it then trans­fers from every other piece of mat­ter. Even air is mat­ter. When you move, you’re trans­fer­ring kinetic energy into the air. The wind that you make is your energy being trans­ferred against the air.

Have you ever been in a pool and got splashed? The per­son who splashed you either trans­fered their stored energy by jump­ing in,  or they used their kinetic energy to move their arm to splash the water, which then trans­ferred it to you.  Energy is trans­ferred and absorbed by every­thing it comes into con­tact with.

When you trans­fer your energy, you are send­ing infor­ma­tion. You are either send­ing pos­i­tive or neg­a­tive energy (pos­i­tive or neg­a­tive infor­ma­tion). The inter­est­ing thing about pos­i­tive or neg­a­tive energy is that pos­i­tive or neg­a­tive is inter­preted dif­fer­ently by each piece of mat­ter that receives that energy.

Your def­i­n­i­tion of pos­i­tive is based on your per­cep­tion. Some­one else may inter­pret pos­i­tive or neg­a­tive dif­fer­ently than you. If you emit pos­i­tive energy and some­one receives it as pos­i­tive, you are left with pos­i­tive energy.  You both record a pos­i­tive thought in your mind. If you emit neg­a­tiv­ity, you’ll prob­a­bly get neg­a­tiv­ity back and that neg­a­tive mem­ory is stored in both of your minds.

You can see this in math.

    * 2+2=4 (Two pos­i­tives equal a pos­i­tive. This is creation).
    * 2 + (-2) = 0 (If  equal, a pos­i­tive and a neg­a­tive cre­ates bal­ance, or no growth, or no loss).
    * (-2) + (-2) = –4 (Two neg­a­tives equal a neg­a­tive. This is destruction).

When you speak, you’re send­ing sound waves. When you lis­ten, you’re receiv­ing sound waves. This form of com­mu­ni­ca­tion was one of the key fac­tors for our evo­lu­tion­ary growth. When you see, you’re see­ing light waves. All of these waves are car­ry­ing infor­ma­tion to you. This infor­ma­tion get’s processed, and stored as a mem­ory in your sub­con­scious.  This infor­ma­tion is stored in your brain matter.

You have a spi­ral wave that runs through you.  It’s gen­er­ated by your heart.  Your heart cre­ates an oscil­lat­ing pos­i­tive and neg­a­tive charge that rep­re­sents your heart­beat.  This heart­beat is an elec­tro­mag­netic wave.  This cre­ates a large elec­tro­mag­netic field around you. Whether or not you real­ize it, you’re emit­ting a pos­i­tive or neg­a­tive wave at all times. The Sci­ence of the Heart can be read about more at http://www.heartmath.org.

Have you ever seen what hap­pens when two waves col­lide? They cre­ate a larger wave.  That larger wave can be pos­i­tively charged or it can be neg­a­tively charged. This is why we’re com­pelled to com­pete for a com­pet­i­tive mate or part­ner.  You want to end up with two pos­i­tive waves. We don’t like fight­ing because we end up with a larger neg­a­tively charged wave. Do you notice the way a surfer is rid­ing with the wave? They’re going in the same direc­tion. Do you notice that when peo­ple fight they’re fight­ing in oppo­site direc­tions? These are two forms of mat­ter that emit elec­tro­mag­netic waves, either pos­i­tively (same direc­tion) or neg­a­tively (opposing).

We’re dri­ven by the “Cre­ation and Destruc­tion Prin­ci­ple” to com­pete and pro­duce the best infor­ma­tion.  That’s why we want our mate suc­cess­ful, good look­ing, smart, in shape, etc, etc.  All of these pos­i­tive traits may be val­ued by each per­son dif­fer­ently, but they all pro­vide value in the com­pe­ti­tion of life. That “drive” you see in some­one is their sur­vival instinct.  This is their will to live. It’s the cre­ative side of the Cre­ation and Destruc­tion Prin­ci­ple.  This comes from the elec­tro­mag­netic energy gen­er­ated by your heart.

Bio­log­i­cally, we get mar­ried, find a part­ner, have fam­i­lies, look for strong com­pa­nies to work for, etc.  We’re look­ing for pos­i­tive waves (based on our per­cep­tion) to help us com­pete in the “Cir­cle of Life”.  There have even been stud­ies that show that two peo­ple in happy con­ver­sa­tion would syn­chro­nize their heart­beat and brain­waves.  These peo­ple even syn­chro­nize not only their own heart­beat and brain­waves, but also each other’s. This allows us to be “in-tune” and happy (2 pos­i­tives equal a positive).

Under­stand­ing the “Cre­ation and Destruc­tion Prin­ci­ple” allows you to under­stand how to be in-tune with every­thing around you.  The world is fluid, not sta­tic. If you start look­ing at the world as mat­ter with vary­ing lev­els of con­scious­ness, that emit pos­i­tive or neg­a­tive energy, while fight­ing the com­pe­ti­tion called the “Cir­cle of Life”,  you’ll see what I see. If you see all mat­ter (rocks, trees, ani­mals, peo­ple) as refrac­tions of a larger con­scious­ness, then you’ll see the world as I do.

If you’ve ever won­dered why you nat­u­rally like music and danc­ing, this is why.  You’re try­ing to become in tune with the “Cre­ation and Destruc­tion” force.  That’s why the hairs on your arm or neck raise when you sense some­thing pos­i­tive.  This is why you’ve heard some­one prac­tic­ing Yoga say “OMMMM”.

This prin­ci­ple is the foun­da­tion of mar­tial arts too. You see this in Aikido and other mar­tial arts that use an opponent’s energy against them. This is why we like watch­ing com­pe­ti­tion. We seek this bal­ance in oth­ers. We find beauty, are impressed with, and pre­fer to see that bal­ance emit­ted from that life form phys­i­cally, men­tally, vocally, etc.

Do you notice we don’t like cheaters, quit­ters, and unsports­man­like con­duct. We don’t pre­fer the destruc­tive side. But what we don’t real­ize is, the destruc­tive side is nec­es­sary.  It’s not always bad. In fact “over cre­ation” is bad. You can’t have a win­ner with­out a loser. You can’t have a loser with­out a winner.

You’re seek­ing bal­ance, but do you notice you would rather be happy? You would rather laugh than cry. Bio­log­i­cally, you are pro­grammed to seek the pos­i­tive side of the “Cre­ation And Destruc­tion Prin­ci­ple”. You are seek­ing the pos­i­tive side of that wave. This leads to you orga­niz­ing more and more infor­ma­tion, by trans­fer­ring energy to other mat­ter, which leads to com­pe­ti­tion, which leads to the “Cir­cle of Life”, which leads to Evo­lu­tion.  This force has been around as long as the Uni­verse has.
