THE MYSTERY BERMUDA TRIANGLE

Bermuda Triangle’s notoriety has made the place appear everywhere, from articles, to news reports, to movies and books.

But what is so mysterious about this place?  How much of what is attributed to it is a fact and how much fiction. What caused this place’s bad reputation? And is there a logical explanation for the ships and planes disappeared precisely in this triangle? Even the most experienced of sailors are reluctant to sail in those waters. Is it just because of the myths?

Maybe not all of the above questions can be answered, but I will try to present in this article some facts about the Bermuda Triangle.

The Bermuda Triangle, differently known as the Devil’s Triangle, is a region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean. This location has become well known for a number of incidents,  where a number of aircraft and surface vessels allegedly, mysteriously disappeared in it. According to various official agencies, the number and nature of disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle is much similar to that in any other area of ocean. Some people believe, supernatural forces ruling over this part of the ocean have caused the disappearances, but this belief is often dismissed as a superstition.

The sea between Florida, the Bahamas and Cuba is reportedly filled with secrets. In his book, “Mysterious Disappearances”, John Townsend writes, that over the past 100 years, more than 20 aircraft and 50 ships, have disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle.

Some attribute these to the inexperienced crew of the ships or planes who maybe got lost not knowing the area. But it is hard to explain occurrences as the following:

A Boeing 727 disappeared off the radar and air traffic controllers feared the worst. Ten minutes later the plane landed safely, fortunately. The pilots said they had flown through heavy fog. All aircraft clocks, however, had lost ten minutes. Did time stand still in the Bermuda Triangle?

Another famous disappearance case in the Bermuda triangle is that of the tanker Sulphur Queen, in 1963. It disappeared together with the crew of 39 men. Two weeks before the last trip had the ship undergone a security check and had been equipped with new life saving equipment, plus the saving boats had also been checked. But none of this helped to save it from disappearing.

Gulf Stream is very strong in areas off the U.S. east coast. And about Bermuda Triangle can drag the ships far off course. In areas where there is also a special magnetism that helps to make things worse. All of these, and bad weather is perhaps the reason why there have been so many incidents in this location.

ANTARCTICA INFORMATION

Antarctica is a very cool place in the world. There are no indigenous people on Antarctica.Antarctica population mainly consists of the researchers and the scientists, who are constantly engaged in carrying out various experiments all through the year. The Antarctica population reveals that there are no permanent residents in this continent. The number of people carrying out different experiments in this continent varies between 1000 and 4000. During the summer season the number reaches to 4000 and in the winter it comes down to 1000.

The first semi permanent population of Antarctica region was the Britishers and the Americans who did spent more than a year in South Georgia. The era for the whale hunters lasted till 1966. During that period the population during summer time used to be around 1000 and during winter it came down to 200. The whale hunters were mainly the Britishers and the Norwegians.

Antarctica is not an easy place to get to, but increasing numbers of people visit Antarctica every year. Almost all go as a part of an organized expeditionary cruise, frequently guided by experts who are a mixture of seasoned seafarers, and ice or wildlife experts.

popular food in Antarctica is seafood, and in particular shellfish. Because nearly all the population lives near the shores. Antarcticans normally eat twice a day, once in late morning, and once at late evening. They would eat foods transported in from their native countries or the nearby country.frozen meat, chicken, fish, and canned fruits and vegetables. Potatoes, milk, onions and flour were also shipped in. Fresh food during the summer was shipped in from New Zealand and included fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs and cheeses.

In Antarctica adequate communications can be a matter of life and death. Communication systems are therefore a key part of any research station. All stations (and ships) have permanent satellite links to the outside world providing broadband internet and a sophisticated telephone network.

Radios and portable satellite phones provide communication with field parties, ships and aircraft. Within the stations themselves, there are telephones and walkie-talkie systems.

However, all these systems can be disrupted by the weather or atmospheric phenomena.

GOOGLE'S 13TH BIRTHDAY

Hi friends today our friend's birthday......

Yes!!! Google..........

Google began in January 1996 as a research project by Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they were both PhD students at Stanford University in California. While conventional search engines ranked results by counting how many times the search terms appeared on the page, the two theorized about a better system that analyzed the relationships between websites.

Now a days one of the most used search engine on world wide web turned 13 on Tuesday. Google commemorated its 13th birthday by dedicating itself a birthday doodle. The doodle is similar to what the search engine had in the early 2000s, when Google’s logo emulated Yahoo in adding an exclamation point.

The exact day of the inception of the search engine is debated as Google had filed for incorporation on September 4, 1998 and was established three days later on September 7. But over the years, Google has celebrated 27 September as its birthday.

ROBOTS FRIEND / ENEMY

While we're probably not headed for a Skynet-like Armageddon, an increasing number of scientists worry whether adequate measures are being taken to safeguard ourselves from our robotic and digital creations.

One of the main concerns is automation. Will military drones eventually be allowed to make their own decisions on whether or not to attack a target? If a human is monitoring, will he or she still be able to override the drone's wishes? Will we allow machines to replicate themselves without human direction? Are we going to allow self-driving cars? (Some cars already offer the ability to park themselves or to prevent a driver from drifting into another lane.)

Then there is the issue of robots occupying roles they probably should not. Already, there are prototype medical robots designed to ask patients about their symptoms and to provide counsel, simulating comforting emotions -- a role traditionally occupied by a human doctor. Microsoft has a video-based receptionist A.I. in one of its buildings. A new class of "service robots" can plug themselves into electrical outlets and perform other menial tasks -- not to mention the long-established Roomba, an automated, vacuum like robot.

We may also be placing too many critical tasks and responsibilities into the "hands" of non-human actors, or will gradually find ourselves in a position of dependence on machines. At a 2009 conference of computer scientists, roboticists and other researchers, the experts in attendance expressed concern about how criminals could take advantage of next-generation technology, like artificial intelligence, to hack information or impersonate real people [source: Markoff]. The bottom line of this conference and other discussions seems to be that it's important to start tackling these issues early, to outline industry standards now, even if it's not clear what kind of technological advancements the future will bring.

MOORE'S LAW WILL ALWAYS HOLD TRUE

The real cause of the end of Moore's Law may be economic rather than scientific.

Moore's Law is generally taken to mean that the number of transistors on a chip -- and by extension, processing power -- doubles every two years. In reality, Gordon Moore, the computer scientist who originated Moore's Law in 1965, was talking about the economic costs of chip production and not the scientific achievements behind advances in chip design.

Moore believed that the costs of chip production would halve annually for the next 10 years but may not be sustainable afterwards [source: Hickins]. The limit to Moore's Law may then be reached economically instead of scientifically.

Several prominent computer experts have contended that Moore's Law cannot last more than two decades [source: IEEE]. Why is Moore's Law doomed? Because chips have become much more expensive to produce as transistors have become smaller.

One analyst has predicted that by 2014, transistors will be 20 nanometers in size but that any further reductions in chip size will be too expensive for mass production [source: Nuttall].

For comparison, as of summer 2009, only Samsung and Intel have invested in making 22-nanometer chips.

The factories that produce these chips cost billions of dollars. Globalfoundries' Fab 2 factory, set to begin production in New York in 2012, will cost $4.2 billion to build. Few companies have those kinds of resources, and Intel has said that a company must have $9 billion in yearly revenue to compete in the cutting-edge chip market [source: Nuttall].

That same aforementioned analyst believes that companies will attempt to make the most out of current technologies before investing in new, more expensive, smaller chip designs [source: iSuppli]. So while the end of Moore's Law may limit the rate at which we add transistors to chips, that does not necessarily mean that other innovations will prevent the creation of faster, more advanced computers.

AVATAR 2

The science-fiction movie Avatar is already promised a huge success when it will get released. So Director James Cameron and the studios are already thinking about the future of this new movie franchise. Yeap, we may expect Avatar 2 to be greenlit quite soon.

Actually they were thinking about making a movie sequel to Avatar since the very beginning: most of the cast has indeed sign on for a trilogy! This was revealed a few days ago by Actor Sam Worthington who's got the lead in the first Avatar as Jack Sully:

"You work 18-hour days. I was on it for 14 months. Jim's still editing. We'll still be filming it up to the day it's released — probably after the movie comes out, knowing Jim! That commitment is what makes him the man he is. It's life or death. It's war. That's how he approaches movies… We're signed for a trilogy. But I think I'll be 94 by the time it finishes, to be honest. I know Jim's got some ideas in his big head."

Actor Sam Worthington

But what could possibly be the plot of Avatar 2? Well, two potential plots have
shown up online:

- the story of Avatar 2 could imply Jack Sully going deeper in the jungle of the planet Pandora:
"If the public likes Avatar, it's a possibility. After all, here we are exploring the surface of the planet Pandora. The interior remains to be seen."

Producer Jon Landau
- or a whole new setting could be introduced, either in space or on a new planet:

"What would you think if I told you that should a sequel to AVATAR happen, it might not even take place on Pandora? It's all up the air as of now. But remember I'm telling you this. Pandora is not the be all and end all of the Consortium."

An anonymous insider source

I don't really care about where Avatar 2 would take place as long as Director James Cameron and his team show the same commitment to make this sequel to Avatar a real success.

And I'm confident that Avatar, from the experience they gained while making the first film, will be even more amazing! Besides I guess that Avatar 2 won't be released before 2012, so that would let time to the technology to drastically improve.

Here's an update from James Cameron, it concerns Avatar 2:

"We have some story ideas about how to branch out into other moons of Polyphemus and the Alpha Centauri A (ACA) solar system."

Director James Cameron

Update: Avatar 2 is now set for a release in December 2014.

ASTON MARTIN - Indian Model Worth Rs. 20 Crore

Less than six months after the world's fastest car - the Bugatti Veyron - made its India debut at a jaw-dropping price of Rs 16 crore, the bar was pushed even higher on Friday.

British super car maker Aston Martin has launched the One-77 ultra sports car at a starting price of Rs 20 crore. However, even with that kind of money, one may end up merely staring longingly at pictures, as only five of the 77 units of the 750 hp, top-of-the-range, hand-built sports car is available to order.

“One of the One-77 has already been booked by an individual in India, though we cannot disclose who it is,” said Mr Bill Donnelly, Sales and Service Director, Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. At Rs 20 crore, one can buy several sports cars at one go, or a large apartment in South Mumbai or even small private jets like the Embraer Phenom 100 or the Bombardier Learjet 40 series.

Other models

The brand, identified with the British spy 007, has also launched other models from its range such as the V8 Vantage, Virage, DB9, DBS and the four-seater Rapide. Prices start from Rs 1.35 crore (V8 Vantage) and go up to over Rs 2.15 crore (Rapide). Only the smallest Aston, Cygnet, will not be available immediately.

In Mumbai, Aston Martin will be imported and distributed by Performance Cars, a division of Infinity Cars (BMW dealer in Mumbai). The company will also launch a Delhi showroom by end-May, operated by a company run by the same family which owns the BMW dealership, Deutsche Motoren.

ONE MOSQUITO COIL EQUALS 100 CIGARETTES

Smoke emitted from one mosquito repellant coil is equivalent to those of 100 cigarettes, thus causing harm to a large number of people in India, an expert said Wednesday.

"Not many people know about it, but the damage done to your lungs by one mosquito coil is equivalent to the damage done by 100 cigarettes. This was according to a recent study conducted in Malyasia," said Chest Research Foundation director Sandeep Salvi.

He was speaking at the conference 'Air Pollution and Our Health', organised by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) along with the Indian Council for Medical Research and the Indian Medical Association.
About 55 per cent of Delhi's population lives within 500 metres from main roads and exposed to pollution.

Salvi said there is a lack of awareness about the impact of air pollution on human health.

Pointing out the "lack of research culture" among Indian doctors, Salvi said that indoor air pollution too is a health risk factor.

Participants at the event, which included doctors and health researchers, also spoke about vehicular air pollution in the capital.

According to estimates, about 55 per cent of Delhi's population lives within 500 metres from main roads - and is, therefore, prone to a variety of physical disorders.

"The vehicular pollution is a major concern for the environment. The rising incidents of genetic disorder has a lot to do with air pollution. India loses one million children under five because of respiratory problems every year," said Sanjeev Bagai, the chief executive officer of Batra Hospitals.

He said industries also contribute to the air pollution and these need to be shifted out of the capital.

WEBSITE THAT HELPS FIND LOOK-ALIKE SOUL MATES

London: Scientific theory has it that people are attracted to the opposite sex who have similar facial features. An American entrepreneur has now launched a website that helps people find their look-alike mate.

The online dating agency "FindYourFacemate.com" uses sophisticated facial recognition software to pair off people with a partner who is "facially compatible" to them, says the Daily Mail.

The website's 54-year-old founder Christina Bloom said she started investigating the look-alike theory 20 years ago when she married a man who looked very similar to her.

The site now has 25,000 members worldwide and is free to join.

Bloom, a resident of New York, said: "I'm not in this for money. I really believe in the science behind it and I want to help people meet their soul mates. It's really hard to meet people these days and even harder to find that special chemistry."

CONFLICT DIAMONDS

Crucial issue in fuelling wars
On 1 December 2000, the United Nations General Assembly adopted, unanimously, a resolution on the role of diamonds in fuelling conflict, breaking the link between the illicit transaction of rough diamonds and armed conflict, as a contribution to prevention and settlement of conflicts (A/RES/55/56). In taking up this agenda item, the General Assembly recognized that conflict diamonds are a crucial factor in prolonging brutal wars in parts of Africa, and underscored that legitimate diamonds contribute to prosperity and development elsewhere on the continent. In Angola and Sierra Leone, conflict diamonds continue to fund the rebel groups, the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) and the Revolutionary United Front (RUF), both of which are acting in contravention of the international community's objectives of restoring peace in the two countries.

What is a conflict diamond?
Conflict diamonds are diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments, or in contravention of the decisions of the Security Council.

"It has been said that war is the price of peace… Angola and Sierra Leone have already paid too much. Let them live a better life."

Ambassador Juan Larrain, Chairman of the Monitoring Mechanism on sanctions against UNITA.

How can a conflict diamond be distinguished from a legitimate diamond?
A well-structured 'Certificate of Origin' regime can be an effective way of ensuring that only legitimate diamonds -- that is, those from government-controlled areas -- reach market. Additional controls by Member States and the diamond industry are needed to ensure that such a regime is effective. These measures might include the standardization of the certificate among diamond exporting countries, transparency, auditing and monitoring of the regime and new legislation against those who fail to comply. Boy soldiers await demobilization.

"Diamonds are forever" it is often said. But lives are not.

We must spare people the ordeal of war, mutilations and death for the sake of conflict diamonds."

Martin Chungong Ayafor, Chairman of the Sierra Leone Panel of Experts.

Fuelling wars
Rough diamond caches have often been used by rebel forces to finance arms purchases and other illegal activities. Neighbouring and other countries can be used as trading and transit grounds for illicit diamonds. Once diamonds are brought to market, their origin is difficult to trace and once polished, they can no longer be identified.

Who needs to take action?
Governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations, diamond traders, financial institutions, arms manufacturers, social and educational institutions and other civil society players need to combine their efforts, demand the strict enforcement of sanctions and encourage real peace. The horrific atrocities in Sierra Leone and the long suffering of the people of Angola have heightened the international community's awareness of the need to cut off sources of funding for the rebels in order to promote lasting peace in those countries; such an opportunity cannot be wasted.

The international diamond industry is already taking steps to respond, such as the adoption by the World Diamond Congress, Antwerp, 19 July 2000, of a resolution which, if fully implemented, stands to increase the diamond industry's ability to block conflict diamonds from reaching market. Other efforts include the launching, at the initiative of African diamond-producing countries, of an inclusive, worldwide consultation process of Governments, industry and civil society, referred to as the Kimberly Process, to devise an effective response to the problem of conflict diamonds.

What is the United Nations doing?
The tragic conflicts in Angola and Sierra Leone, fuelled by illicit diamond smuggling, have already led to action by the Security Council. Under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, targeted sanctions have been applied against UNITA in Angola and the Sierra Leone rebels, including a ban on their main source of funding -- illicit diamonds. Diamond sanctions have also been applied against Liberia but are not yet in effect.

Awaiting for the diamond rush to come to an end !

A NANO OF GOLD

Mumbai, Sept 20 (TruthDive): The “world’s cheapest car” may now well be the world’s most expensive. The Tata Group on Monday unveiled a Nano car – made with gold and silver, and studded with precious stones – worth over Rs 22 crore in Mumbai. The golden Nano has been built to commemorate the 5000th year of jewellery designing in India.

A Tata Nano, which sells in showrooms for about $3,000, was covered in gold and jewellery. Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata, whose company also controls Jaguar and Land Rover, was a hand at the Tata Theatre in Mumbai to help launch the publicity stunt.

Covered in 80kg of 22 carat gold and 15kg of silver, and inlaid with 10,000 semi-precious stones and gems, the ‘bling’ version of the Nano is a one-off showpiece that will tour Tata-owned jewellery stores across the country. The car incorporates beautiful designs, made with the semi-precious stones of different colors, set on the gold and silver body of the car.

“As many as 14 techniques of jewellery making have gone behind the effort — from the intricate filigree work to the delicate and colorful meenakari work, the stunning kundan to the traditional naqashi, marking the convergence of diverse and culturally distinct jewellery making techniques from around India,” the official told.

The original Nano, which launched with a 100,000-customer waiting list in 2008 and was aimed at an emerging middle class, has seen sales plummet. In August the Mumbai-based group shipped just 1,202 units, down 88 per cent from April’s 10,012 units.

Analysts blame the fall on safety issues, poor marketing and a misunderstanding of the Indian consumer. Analysts blame the Nano’s poor safety record for the decline in sales. Several incidents of the cars spontaneously erupting into flames were widely reported, pushing Tata to offer its existing 70,000 Nano customers a safety upgrade.

However, a more fundamental issue, according to Mr. Rathore is that the car has been marketed in the wrong way from the beginning. Indians, he said, generally do not want to be known as buyers of the world’s cheapest car.

The golden Nano will not be on sale and will be retained by the Tata Group. This car might be used as a marketing tool to prop up the sagging sales of the Nano. After its glittering launch in Mumbai Monday evening, the Goldplus Nano Car will travel to all the Goldplus showrooms at 29 locations around the country.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF - You cannot believe in god until you believe in yourself

“The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen” – Frank Lloyd Wright

If you want others to believe in you, then you must first believe in it yourself. If you want others in the world to believe in you, then you must first believe in yourself.

Success is built on confidence. If you believe in yourself then you have confidence in yourself and your abilities. The building blocks of self-confidence are:

Knowledge

Knowledge is power. No-one knows you as well as you do and no-one knows you as well as you do. A lack of self esteem generally stems from a fear of some description, the most common being a fear of failure. A fear of failure can often be described more accurately as a fear of the unknown. This fear can be eliminated with knowledge, allowing self-confidence to grow.

Skill

Identifying your own unique skills can be extremely empowering. Knowing what you’re good at and where your strengths lie can give you the confidence to tackle any of life’s little challenges head on.

Experience

As you gain experience, you gain knowledge and with that knowledge comes power. ‘Learn from your mistakes’ is a common saying but it’s just as important to learn from your successes. You can analyse a negative experience to ensure it doesn’t happen again but if you take the time to analyse a positive experience, you can ensure it does happen again. The experience of achieving success through setting carefully planned goals helps to ensure further success through gaining greater self-confidence.

Attitude

Your attitude is essential to your success. A positive attitude and a belief that everything, including yourself, can change is the best way to remain optimistic through challenging times.

Self-belief

The foundation stones needed to build your self-confidence are knowledge, skill, experience, attitude, and a belief in yourself. A belief in yourself provides the corner-stone from which to build your dreams into realities.

Confidence building tips
  • Remember what you’re good at
  • Remember that failure is not permanent – neither is success – everything can be changed
  • Be yourself: you are the only you, and you are the best you
  • Compliment others – what goes around, comes around
  • Dress sharp: ‘clothes don’t make the man’ but how you dress can affect how you feel

KFC RECIPE

Ingredients used in KFC chicken recipe :
  •    2 cups of white flour
  •    1/3 tablespoon of salt
  •    2 tablespoon of garlic salt
  •    4 tablespoon of paprika. The bright red and slightly pungent paprika can enhance the flavor of any recipe.
  •    1/2 tablespoon of thyme. Thyme not only flavors your chicken but also a good source of iron. It never overpowers and blends well with other herbs and spices.
  •    1/2 tablespoon of basil. Basil is generally added at the last moment as cooking it with food can destroy its flavor and positive effects.
  •    1/3 tablespoon of oregano. The aromatic, warm and balsamic flavor of oregano makes it the perfect addition to Famous cuisine like Kentucky Fried Chicken.
  •    1 tablespoon of celery salt. You can easily prepare it yourself as well but it is recommended to get it from store.
  •   1 tablespoon of black pepper. Black pepper can enhance the taste of any delicacy.
  •   1 tablespoon of dry mustard.
  •   1 tablespoon of ground ginger.
  •   2 tablespoon of MSG (Accent). It is a flavor enhancer though it is not recommended by many nutritionists.

Directions to make KFC Chicken:

  •    Whisk all the ingredients except chicken eggs and breadcrumbs in a medium sized bowl.
  •    Beat the egg in another bowl.
  •    Dip chicken pieces in the egg bowl.
  •    Roll the chicken pieces in bread crumbs.
  •    Pre heat your oven to 350 degree centigrade of temperature.
  •    Keep the marinated chicken pieces in a pan and cover the pan with a foil.
  •    Cook the chicken pieces in oven for 30 minutes.
  •    Bask with oil and serve after 2 minutes.

Now you Cook KFC chicken and Enjoy the day………

ELEPHANTS IN ROMAN ARMY

Two of the Roman Republic's greatest enemies were Pyrrhos of Epeiros, and Hannibal of Carthage. The most iconic "weapon" in both of their armies, by far, was the war elephant. Pyrrhos used elephants imported from India via the Seleukid Empire in Syria, and they wreaked havoc in the ranks of the Roman army of his time. Italy had never been subjected to an assault by an enemy with war elephants, and the Romans - unsure as to what these monstrous grey beasts were - took to calling them "Lucanian Cows" after the part of Italy in which they were first seen.

By the Second Punic War, the Romans had become slightly more acclaimated to facing these great pachyderms on the battlefield. Hannibal's elephants did him little good - his first batch of elephants perished crossing the Alps, and at Zama his elephants went beserk and turned on his Numidian cavalry. In the aftermath of Scipio Africanus' campaign in Africa, the Romans managed to acquire a number of war elephants, and Carthaginian soldiers trained to ride them and fight from their backs. Alliances with Numidian chieftains like Massinissa also brought an auxiliary corps of elephants into the Roman war machine.

The Carthaginians and Numidians had used the now-extinct African Forest Elephant. The modern-day African elephant is, besides the extinct mammoths and Imperial elephants, the largest member of the elephant family in history. It is both larger and fiercer than the Indian elephant, and is impossible to train for use as a pack animal or a war beast. The Indian elephant is smaller and more docile than the African elephant, but was not so small and docile that virtually every state in southern and western Asia - and by extension the eastern Mediterranean - made use of them in warfare.

The forest elephant of Africa, however, was practically a minature elephant, at the shoulder it was only seven or eight feet tall. They were not strong enough to support a howdah with several soldiers therein, like the Indian elephant, so they were crewed by two men riding bareback. The first man rode directly behind the elephant's head and served as a "driver", though he also carried weapons to defend himself. He also carried a chisel and hammer, used to kill the elephant by piercing its brain if it went beserk and started to attack friendly soldiers. The second man on the elephant sat midway down its back and attacked the enemy with javelins and arrows.

The Numidian tribes of what is now Algeria had made extensive use of war elephants, and had captured and trained many of those used by Carthage during the First and Second Punic Wars. Numidian elephants, driven by native Numidians rather than Romans, fought in Rome's name throughout the 2nd Century BC. They played a very important - and largely overlooked - role in the climatic Battle of Pydna in 168 BC. They were used to terrify Celtic warriors in Gaul and southern Italy - who were as unfamiliar with elephants in the 2nd Century BC as the Romans had been in the days of Pyrrhos. Elephants were also used in campaigns in Spain - including at the famous Siege of Numantia in 133 BC. And, ironically, they formed part of the Army that took Carthage and burnt it to the ground in 146 BC.

Many Numidian princes began to drift away from Rome in the late 2nd Century, but when these were conquered elephants were again made available to Roman generals. Many of the great warlords of the 1st Century BC made extensive use of elephants. Julius Caesar used them as a deliberate terror weapon - Polyaenos tells us that he brought one with him to Britain and it caused the British warriors to recoil and scatter in horror. Caesar fought against Roman armies that were using Numidian elephants at both Pharsalus and Thapsus; on the eve of the Battle of Thapsus he arranged for some of his soldiers to kill some circus elephants, to increase their confidence fighting the beasts. This apparently did much for their skill and courage in elephant-fighting, as at Thapsus most of the enemy elephants were killed or captured with relative ease.

War elephants are very rarely mentioned in the battle-order of the Imperial Roman Army. Claudius brought a few to Britain in 43 AD, and rode one to a meeting with some British chieftains, in an attempt to intimidate them. These elephants may have also stayed in Britain under the command of M. Ostorius Scapula, as he fought to defeat the insurrection of Caratacos.

Two 3rd Century emperors made brief use of elephants - in 193 AD Didius Julianus drafted circus elephants into his army to make it look more intimidating - but this was to no avail, his poorly organized army had low morale and scattered before the advance of Septimius Severus' legions. Caracalla was said to have maintained a unit of Indian elephants, in a deliberate attempt to make his army look more like that of Alexander the Great. Though the Roman Army encountered war elephants in the East at least as late as the 6th Century AD, Caracalla was the last Roman we know of to make use of elephants himself.

It has been falsely claimed that the Romans never made use of war elephants. There is extensive evidence to the contrary, however; war elephants played a major role in the Republican Roman Army, and helped it win at least two of its greatest victories. In the Imperial period, however, the war elephant had declined in usage in the Mediterranean world, and had been reduced to little more than a huge testimony to a single emperor's equally colossal vanity.

THE NUMBER 666

In the New Testament, the Book of Revelation (13:17-18) cryptically asserts 666 to be "the number of a man," associated with the beast, an antagonistic creature that appears briefly about two-thirds into the apocalyptic vision.

In modern popular culture, 666 has become one of the most widely recognized symbols for the Antichrist or, alternatively, the Devil. Earnest references to the number occur both among apocalypticist Christian groups and in explicitly anti-Christian subcultures. References in contemporary Western art or literature are, more likely than not, an intentional references to the Beast symbolism. Such popular references are therefore too numerous to list.

It is not uncommon to see the symbolic role of the integer 666 transferred to the digit sequence 6-6-6. Some people take the Satanic associations of 666 so seriously that they actively avoid things related to 666 or the digits 6-6-6. This is known as hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia.

In the Bible, is the number of talents of gold Solomon collected each year (see 1 Kings 10:14, 2 Chronicles 9:13).
In the Bible, is the number of Adonikam's descendants who return to Jerusalem and Judah from the Babylonian exile (see Ezra 2:13).
In Kabbalistic Judaism the number represents the creation and perfection of the world. The world was created in 6 days, and there are 6 cardinal directions (North, South, East, West, Up, Down).

MISS UNIVERSE 2011

Leila Lopes was born in Benguela, Angola. Her mother is from the Province of Benguela and her father was born in the Cuanza Sul Province. Lopes was a business management student in Great Britain, where she was crowned Miss Angola UK on October 8, 2010, as the official representative of the Angolan community in the United Kingdom to the Miss Angola 2011 event, which took place two months later in Luanda.

Miss Angola UK - she won this on October 8, 2010, gaining the right to take part in the Miss Angola 2011 elections, but the victory caused protests within the Angolan community in Britain, due to the fact that she was not a resident of the UK and thus, not eligible.

Miss Angola - held in Luanda on December 18, 2010, gaining the right to represent Angola in Miss Universe 2011. She also obtained the Photogenic Award during the contest.

Miss Universe 2011 - in São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011. She became the first Angolan Miss Universe and the 60th titleholder. Lopes received the title from the former Miss Universe titleholder, Ximena Navarrete of Mexico.Lopes is the fourth African to win the title since the beginning of the worldwide pageant (South Africa, 1978; Namibia, 1992; Botswana, 1999; and Angola, 2011) and the second African of African descent to win following Mpule Kwelagobe, Miss Universe 1999 from Botswana. Lopes also became the first woman from Angola to win a "Big four" beauty pageant, and the first black African woman to win Miss Universe in the new millenium.

The Argentinian newspaper Infobae published a report on September 17, 2011, alleging that Lopes was unfairly allowed to participate in the Miss Angola UK competition for Angolan citizens living in the UK, even though she has never lived outside of Angola. The new allegations arose claiming that her documents were falsified in order to show a legal residence status in the United Kingdom and win the qualifying Miss Angola UK contest. If proven true, she may lose her Miss Universe title. [10] The report claimed that a man named Charles Mukano, an Angolan promoter, helped falsify documents identifying her as a student of business management at a British school and may have even bribed judges in England to ensure Lopes’s win, enabling her to enter and win the contest.

MALIK THREATENS TO BLOCK GOOGLE, YOUTUBE IN PAK

Islamabad: Popular internet search engine Google and websites like YouTube could be shut down in Pakistan if they did not cooperate with authorities investigating crimes and incidents of terrorism, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has warned. Malik made the remarks at the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency here while interacting with reporters.

He urged the websites to extend help to authorities to exterminate terrorism from the country. The government would be compelled to block certain websites including YouTube and search engine Google if they did not extend cooperation to authorities, Malik said. The Taliban and other terrorist organisations were sharing intelligence through the internet and it is imperative to curb these activities, he said.

Malik did not give details of the crimes and incidents of terrorism that the websites could provide information about. TV news channels also quoted Malik as saying that he had issued an order for a case to be registered against the administrator of Google Pakistan.

The minister has faced criticism and ridicule from civil society and rights groups for several of his recent comments. Malik had recently claimed that jealous girlfriends and wives, and not political groups or criminals, were responsible for a majority of target killings in the southern port city of Karachi.

WHAT IS MONEY: WHERE DOES MONEY COME FROM?

The answer is equally simple but devastatingly obvious, once the players and their rules are clarified.

This also tangentially explains just how it is that the Corporatocracy and the Banks continue to demand that “growth must always increase” – every hour, every day, every year and every decade. This is impossible because under the laws of nature nothing can go up forever—and yet that is exactly what our entire monetary system is based on—along with its shadow partner—the ever-expanding debt of individuals, companies, corporations, and especially governments.

One explanation of how such a flawed design could ever hope to work is quoted as : “In the child’s game of musical chairs, so long as the music continues—no one loses.” This is what was being threatened on the markets all last week—the music was about to stop; because credit-everywhere was drying up.

Most people work and live in a world of tangible labor; thinking that the reward for that labor is as real as the sweat of their efforts to obtain it. But the answer to ‘Where Does Money Come From’ shreds that cloak of secrecy that has hidden this shell-game from the general public for centuries.

“What do Presidents John F. Kennedy, James Garfield and Abraham Lincoln, and Congressman Louis McFadden all have in common?

They all believed in the necessity of dismantling what has evolved into what is now known as the Federal Reserve Banking System ("The Fed")

They were unique in that they all had the understanding and power to act on their beliefs, but never got the chance to because they were assassinated before got the chance.

What's the big deal about the Fed? For starters, it's not, contrary to
popular belief, a part of the government. It's privately owned...which means the United States does not control its own money supply. Strange but true.

The Fed was created around the same time that the US adopted such charming practices as taxing the income of working people
and conscripting its citizens against their will to fight and die in overseas
wars. Who really rules America? It's not who you think.”

Bankers have always been publicly seen as solid, no-nonsense guardians of growth and prosperity in many countries. In truth it turns out they are mostly fraudulent tricksters performing feats of pure fantasy that make them rich to the direct degree that they succeed in undermining nature, while destroying economies and most forms of general prosperity—along with the global security of the planet. These are the same people that have elevated ‘money’ to its currently outrageous position over everything else in life.

The history clearly shows that the international bankers were behind both World Wars: They financed both sides before during and after: including the especially lucrative and destabilizing re-construction that altered the equations for global trade in the post-war period. The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were also the tools used to destroy the few remaining independent nations after WWII. Those were previously self-sustaining states that were forced, though ‘loans,’ to become single product exporting nations, at the expense of their former ability to sustain themselves.

This made them vulnerable to monetary shifts in global trade, and virtually enslaved those people in a global-system that did not serve to keep them alive. The latest additions to these crimes were and are all the international trade agreements that began in Europe and have now spread to this hemisphere. However, at least in Latin America there is finally a real public resistance to this takeover of so much of the world’s natural resources and the people that once owned them.

Of course the so-called “War-on-Terror” is only the Middle-Eastern form for doing what was done to so many other nations around the world—and because its resources are oil and water, the banks methods have become far more violent. Religion, politics and Armageddon along with race-hatred, and shear terror have are all being used now to bolster the mandatory levels of fear that are needed to keep this open-ended war burning -  forever: Or until these same central banks that seek control over all the resources of that region are victorious – whichever comes first.

No one in these institutions seems to have factored in what will really happen, to those resources or to the planet, due to the methods being used and the nuclear contamination of so much territory – after the bullets and bombs have ceased to rain on what’s left of those people.

Instead, as the film points out, the goal seems to be to simply own all the money and all the goods—with no real thought of what that will mean to those of us from whom everything will have been taken. What good will the money or the power be – when virtually nothing is created with it? The money in itself is completely worthless—it’s not backed up by anything except more worthless paper. Without the creation of goods and services, there is no “growth,” and without the means to obtain what we need to live—there can be no economy and hence no life!

Our national balance of trade is negative, because when we speak of “trade” we are referring to all those imports that are coming in from all those outsourced ‘American’ companies overseas. The USA has become nothing more than a dumping ground for junk and poisoned food, made in China and elsewhere by US affiliated companies that escaped US regulations and taxes, while reaping obscene profits at the expense of American workers and customers.

The latest chapter in this nightmare is called the North American Union (NAU) that is slated to be completed by 2010. This would combine Canada, Mexico and the United States into a single military, economic and trade block: as a new entity in the world. This concoction would open the door for the bankers to extend credit to a whole new population of the poor and as yet uninitiated –it would also dissolve the USA as a nation. The currency for this new obscenity will be the “Amero.” There is a meeting being held on this subject, next week—be sure to demand coverage from whatever media you have!

“Next week, on August 20 and 21, Stephen Harper, George Bush and Mexican President Felipe Calderon will spend a couple of days quietly sequestered at a hotel in Montebello, Quebec, a location that will not be open to the public or the press. No cameras will be permitted inside and public discussion of what takes place in those meetings will be tightly controlled and managed by the three leaders.

While camped out at the Chateau Montebello, a luxury hotel in Quebec, the three will discuss what is being called the “Security and Prosperity Partnership” or SPP. While SPP is officially being spun as little more than an opportunity for the three amigos to discuss security and prosperity many critics are calling the SPP a case of NAFTA (The North American Free Trade Agreement) on steroids. SPP was initiated in March 2005 at a summit of the Canadian, US, and Mexican leaders.

The SPP exists only as a verbal entity and is not found in any official treaty or identified in any government legislation. Instead SPP is based on private discussions between the leaders themselves and closed door meetings with big business, lobbyists and political insiders.

From the Canadian perspective, the SPP is a means of completely overhauling Canadian business, military and social programs without having to adhere to normal democratic processes or contend with unwanted public scrutiny.

Since none of what is discussed or agreed upon during SPP meetings is ever reflected in official documents the public has no idea what is being done behind the scenes and no opportunity to have a say in the nation’s future. A future which, if SPP proponents like Stephen Harper have their way, will see Canada suffer massive job losses and lead to the destruction of the of social programs and benefits we all depend on.

One of these secret meetings took place in Sept 2006 in Banff Springs, Alberta. When asked by the media if he was in attendance Public Safety Minister, Stockwell Day refused to confirm or deny his attendance. He instead said that “if he was there” it was a "private" meeting that he would not comment on.

"No item - not Canadian water, Mexican oil, or American anti-dumping laws - "is off the table"; rather, contentious or intractable issues will simply require more time to ripen politically."

- Leaked Minutes of a 2004 meeting of the Task Force on the Future of North America

The North American Competitiveness Council, (NACC) was launched as part of the SPP program in June 2006. It is the only known advisory group to the SPP and the only “tangible” component of the SPP itself.

The NACC is made up of 30 powerful, hand picked and influential corporate leaders from the three nations along with a few “special” advisors. According to recent reports the minutes of a January 10, 2006 “Dialogue on the Security and Prosperity Partnership” meeting reveal that the NACC was created to "engage substantively and pragmatically on trade and security issues without undue deference to political sensitivities." (1)

The clock is ticking and we must demand answers to these basic questions from this so-called government that supposedly serves us. This government needs to learn the hard way to fear its people, just as people should remember that government is only there to serve the public and not to enslave us!

SIKKIM EARTHQUAKE

Rain and landslides are blocking rescue efforts of hundreds of workers searching for survivors of a 6.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Sikkim-Nepal border at 6.10pm on Sunday, killing at least 26 people, police and media said on Monday. According to reports from Union home ministry, there are 16 landslides in a stretch of 10 km in Sikkim. 712 personnel of ITBP are already engaged in rescue and relief operations in the state.

The Army has deployed a total of 72 columns including infantry troops and combat engineers, four Dhruv and five Cheetah helicopters. According to reports coming in the helicopters will make aerial survey of remote areas to find survivors.

The home ministry has put the death toll due to the devastating earthquake at 14 as of now. This includes seven deaths in Sikkim, two in Bihar and five in West Bengal. The toll is likely to rise as rescue teams have not been able to reach remote areas.

Outside India, at least six people have died in neighbouring Nepal, while seven have been reported dead in Tibet region.  More than 400 rescue workers trying to reach Sikkim's capital Gangtok have been cut off by landslides and cracks in the roads, officials at a police control room in Sikkim said.

Many towns in Sikkim are experiencing power cuts, while thousands are being sheltered by the government.  "People are still panicky," Pawan Thapa, a resident of Gangtok, said on phone. "We spent the whole night outside our homes." He added that shops, businesses and offices were closed in Gangtok and neighbouring areas.

The quake was felt all the way to Delhi as well as in Bangladesh, shaking buildings. At least 10 people were injured and some buildings suffered minor damage. Several earthquakes have hit north and east India this year, but none have caused major damage or injuries.

BEGGERS

He knocks my car window in Tidel Traffic ,Hopeless…poor awaiting for something from me………Yes ! He is a begger. Now in India, the Beggars count is more……can u assume it ? …not thousands or lakhs …its 6 million…The average income of a begger is 40 rupees per day.Even people below the poor segment thought of begging ,since it seems to be a sophisticated job for them…yes it’s a JOB,even more a Professional JOB.
A Professional begger average earning is $3 per day.For a month its alomost calculated as 4000 rupees,Its more than a self esteemed hard labour. When I joined in a Multi national CMM level 5 company, for almost one year I was booked for 3000 per month. Its really crazy to look into my past. The only thing is, he don’t have a bank account….who knows ? He may have that too….

But Seriously looking into this issue…It’s thing that should be possibly eliminated in future days. Now a days Womens and child Beggars are emerging more…that is definietely a shame for our country, that should be controlled and have to be dissolved…and of course this responsibility should be taken care by the social welfare department. But still government is doing a good job in taking care of these people, but still the affordobility is very less, when compare to the over all count of 6 million.
Even worst thing is ,Beggars who are physically fit were indulging themselves in criminal activities just to count their bucks to live.

This has to be avoided and should consider as a severe issue. Most embrassing thing is ,some policemen were in league with beggars and shared their collections, to be open they are the professional beggars. Coming to the point……

The Social Welfare department runs 11 certified custodial and residential institutions for beggars with a capacity of 2,200.At these institutions, various facilities are provided to the inmates - like shelter, boarding, lodging, food, medical care, recreation, health, vocational training and counseling to keep them away from begging. They are also taught trades like cycle repair, book-binding, tailoring and cutting and handloom weaving. Officials manning these centers.

But after enjoying government hospitality for a while, beggars return to their old ways. Some beggars have become permanent fixtures in these homes as lodging and food is free. They are satisfied with the lazy capabilities ..But still counseling will make them a proper citizen of India.
Government should improve this custodial and welfare institutions and should accommodate more members to give them a livelihood life and JOB.

Every Indian should have responsibility in making this possible.Dont lend money for the lazy’ies, don’t make them compromise with their lifestyles.

INDIAN ROYAL CABINET MINISTERS:

Inflation and food prices are unlikely to affect their monthly household budget. At least 77% of the Union council of ministers are crorepatis, whose average asset value is pegged at Rs 10.3 crore - Rs 3 crore higher than their declaration two years ago.

Heavy industry minister Praful Patel (assets worth Rs 122 crore) tops the rich list, followed by MoS for I&B S Jagathrakshakan (Rs 70 crore) and urban development minister Kamal Nath (Rs 41 crore).

The data, analyzed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), shows the highest asset increase has been for DMK's Jagathrakshakan, whose worth show a rise of Rs 64.5 crore in only two years (from Rs 5.9 crore in 2009 to Rs 70 crore in 2011). Patel is second in line, with an increase of Rs 42 crore (from Rs 79.8 crore in 2009 to Rs 122 crores in 2011), followed by Kamal Nath, whose assets rose by Rs 26 crore (from Rs 14 crore in 2009 to Rs 41 crore in 2011).

Jagathrakshakan also tops the list for the highest asset increase percentage wise. His assets have shot up by 1,092%. Congress's MoS (textiles) Panabaka Lakshmi is in second spot, with a growth of 828%. While, MoS (road transport and highways) Tusharbhai Chaudhary has recorded a 705% growth.

As many as 15 ministers have shown a dip in assets as compared to their declared wealth in 2009. Agatha Sangma, Prateek P Patil, Virbhadra Singh, RPN Singh, D Napoleon, Vincent Pala, Jitin Prasada, M Veerappa Moily, P Chidambaram, S Jaipal Reddy, Farooq Abdullah, Preneet Kaur, Jairam Ramesh, SM Krishna and GK Vasan are part of the diminishing assets' club.

ADR's Anil Bairwal said vital information like income tax returns, present market value of assets are missing in most of the declarations. "While it is laudable that the PMO is trying to set a meaningful precedence towards greater transparency, we recommend that declarations be made with all the details that are expected in the affidavits outlined by the Election Commission of India so that crucial information can be disclosed in public interest," he said.
